About this Item
Somewhat scarce book by the famous Victorian Arts & Crafts artist & designer William Morris, which stands in a line of literary development continued with books such as David Lindsay's Voyage to Arcturus, which influenced writers such as C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. This is one of three editions published in 1895, being the edition for sale in British colonies and India (the other two were the British and US editions). This is the most scarce of the three, and forms one of the books included in Heinemann's Colonial Library of Modern Fiction. Red, pebble-embossed cloth covers with reasonable wear, spine darkened & worn to edges (cloth worn through in places). Small faded ink note to prelim but no signatures or other signs of ownership. Partial crack to rear gutter but binding still good; small mark to page 13, which has slightly affected the printing to the third paragraph but still perfectly readable. Otherwise very clean internally, just slight toning to edges of text block. Supplied with loose protective acetate cover. Additional images available upon request. Language: eng. Seller Inventory # 4160
