Offered for sale here is an original Wisden publishers hardback for 1897 in VERY GOOD condition. The brown boards are unmarked and really clean and bright.There is a white line running across the spine approximately an inch above the base possibly a repair carried out some time ago.There are also one or two pin pricks running down the junction of the spine and the rear board. - scarcely visible but I have tried to show them in the last photo. . The gilt titles are really bright both to the front board and the spine. The front and rear pastedowns and endpapers are clean and bright with just the odd minor mark. The front hinge is strong with possibly some restoration at the top. The rear hinge is weak The contents are really clean,crisp and unmarked. 1897 is really ,really scarce in hardback and also notoriously difficult year to source in decent condition both in softback and hardback - some Wisden years suffered from poor production standards and 1897 was one of those years.1903 and 1929 are others.
