CONDITION: Very Good Plus; no names, upper corners bumped, else very tight and clean. Juvenile hardback. A mother gives her two daughters a beautiful doll on condition that they never argue over her, but teach Lottie to be well brought up. Quite active and funny stories of how the younger sister (the doll) is guided by the elder (the mother). Charming full page illustrations with pretty children's clothes, probably from the original. A facsimile of a little book found in the Caledonian Market before World War Two, now in the Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature, University of Florida. The 1853 English translation published by David Bogue of London, from the French language of Mme. Malle?s de Beaulieu's "La poupe?e bien e?leve?e."
