Pearl Zane Grey (1872 1939) was an American author and dentist best known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts; he idealized the American frontier. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book. In addition to the commercial success of his printed works, his books have had second lives and continuing influence when adapted as films and television productions. His novels and short stories have been adapted into 112 films, two television episodes, and a television series, Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater. Zane Grey was a major force in shaping the myths of the Old West. He was the author of more than 90 books, some published posthumously and/or based on serials originally published in magazines. His total book sales exceed 40 million. The majority of his books were published by Harper & Brothers in the United States and by Musson in Canada. This would appear to be the first Canadian edition. This book, 419 pages is in near-fine condition. There is nothing of substance that prevents me from using the term fine, just a very few, very minimal blemishes that causes a bit of hesitation. The covers are bright, and the text block is fine. The dust jacket is in very good condition, the spine is a bit faded and the top text Wan is a bit impaired and there is a couple of chips out of the back of the dust jacket, that is now in a protective mylar wrap. Overall, a very attractive and acceptable copy of this title. Seller Inventory # 20112a
