Half-Leather. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. Here is a beautiful set of the great Irish poet/musician's complete works; held at major research universities in both the US & UK, but very scarce on the market. Contemporary Fine Binding: leather spine and tips over marbled paper-covered boards; spine decorated with fancy gilt and black labels. Mixed state: "Lalla Rookh" in Volume I is designated the Third Edition. Clean text; 539 pages and 587 pages, with Notes and a two-page poem: "The Slave. Written at the Time of the Duke of York's Death." Volume One contains "Lalla Rookh," Moore's extremely popular Oriental romance; there is a contemporary signature on the first page; the signature in Volume II is on "Anacreon." All edges marbled. The text is exceptionally bright and soft, a pleasure to read. There is some rubbing at the margins, but that does not detract from their impressive beauty. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
