The rest with gilt filleted panels of gilt foliation enclosing diamond shape gilt floral centers, five raised bands. Bindings strong & sound. Vol 1 with piece (2 ¾in x 1 ¼in) torn from title. Short mostly marginal tears to A4-A8. Small marginal corner loss to plate 1. Sheets slightly age toned & clean. Neat 1783 name crossed out by another on the front free endpapers. Later name on rear paste down endpapers. The first edition of the first French translation is A La Haye: Chez P. Gosse & J. Neaulme, 1727. The translator is unknown. There is also a new translation with that imprint and date. The Desfontaines translation followed some months later Paris, 1727.
