Unique and historic vintage/antique photograph of the crew of the Barge 'Olga' of the U.S.S. Trenton, circa 1880. A museum exhibit deaccessioned from the San Francisco Maritime Museum; ex Carnegie Museum collection, ca. 1898 with inventory number 14288/20. 10 5/8" x 8 1/2" sepia-toned photograph mounted on 13 1/2" x 10 1/4" card stock, with museum inventory numbers to back. 14 oarsmen in white 'T' shirts (no pun intended) with, presumably, the coxswain, in full sailor uniform, with 'Trenton' on cap and holding pennant of the U.S.S. Trenton. The Trenton was commissioned in 1877 and wrecked by a cyclone/typhoon at Samoa in 1889. Condition of the photograph is excellent with only a small area in the bottom right corner with a few thin black spots; otherwise superb. SEE PHOTO ENLARGED. Mount board, which has the title 'Crew of the Barge 'Olga' --- U.S.S. Trenton' printed below the photo, has soiling, particularly on the reverse side. An exceptional antique photograph.
