The second, corrected, edition. An entertaining and critical account of a tour through France by this eccentric author and friend of Gainsborough. The book consists of letters from him as he follows Tobias Smollett through his travels in France and Italy. Internally good with some minor problems: Page 6 holed with trivial loss to text which is still readable; Page 43 holed in top margin without loss; Page 53 closed tear of approx. 3cm without loss. Binding badly worn but hinges, although weak, are still holding. Half title present. An uncommon and amusing critical analysis of the French. ESTC citation T85252. Seller Inventory # 001324
