About this Item
A primitive-looking, early rural American print with a religious theme. Restored, with varnish removed and modern linen backing. Original full color, some residual cracking from before restoration. Moody M. Peabody was an engraver working in Quechee and Reading, Vermont around this time. The biographical sketch of Lewis Robinson which appeared in the October, 1962 issue of Vermont History provides some information about Peabody and states that this print was likely published by Lewis Robinson, though his name does not appear on it. That would make this one of the earliest prints or maps attributed to Robinson, whose earliest map with a clear attribution was published in 1825. There are two books and one other piece which were published by "Lewis Roberson" of Weathersfield, VT which are thought actually to be productions by Robinson. Seller Inventory # m01593
