"Reprinting Volume 2 of the U.S. Military Magazine is a publication landmark perhaps even more important than the appearance of the original magazine in 1839. Since World War II there has been a constantly expanding interest in all facets of American military history by professional and amateur historians, collectors of uniforms and related equipment, artists and illustrators, writers of historical ficiton, and veterans of that war. As this interest has grown, there has been an increased awareness of the magazine, but the publication is so exessively rare very few persons ever have been privledged to see a copy of it.
