Small patch of loss on front board at enter left. Modest soiling to surface of cloth. Spine ends worn with scuffing to and slight crushing. Minor loss to ends. Joints slightly split at cloth. Front fly leaf has been glued or adhered to pastedown obscuring an ex-libris plate? Internally good with lightly toned edges, scattered foxing throughout and no known marginalia. Binding intact. Please see photos. First edition, first printing. Biography of the famous First Nations Chief, delviered by Stone (1792-1844) at the dedication ceremony of his monument. The appendix contains a history of the Native Americans of New England, including Uncas facsimile holograph signature marks from documents. Stone was a historian and abolitionist who advocated for the abolition of slavery by Congress and drafted the petition for emancipation of slaves at the Anti-Slavery Convention in Baltimore in 1825.
