Dark Royal Blue Calf Half Leather with five raised bands and hand tooled decorated compartments and titles to spine. Dark Navy cloth boards with E.R Crown and Hatched Gilt blocked device to front. 190 x 130 mm approx. Hand sewn two colour head and tail bands, blue Spanish marbled end papers, top edge gilt. viii + 24 pp introduction by Edmund Gosse, Half Title + 286 pp. 20 full page line illustrations + chapter head and tail vignettes by F M Rudland. 1897. Good (Book- rubbing to leather at extremities and slight cracking at hinges, bindind othersise sound with no cracks to end papers. A few mild foxing spots to preliminary blanks, no previous owner name or insc. No other notable defects. We can provide no further information on the provenance of the book relating to the gilt device to the front board - perhaps others can assit.
