Remarkably, the original sleeve is here, but is very worn and broken into sections. This is a truly impressive edition of Tseena Ure'ena. Rabbi Yaakov ben Itzhak ( Itshak Isaac) Ashkenazi of Janow Lebelski (Yanov) (Born 1550, died 1628). First published in 1622. Written in Yiddish, for women, who in centuries past generally did not read Hebrew and were not as well-versed in biblical commentary as men, Tse'ena Ure'ena is a summary of the weekly Torah (Pentateuch the first five books of the Bible) readings and traditional biblical commentary and folklore relating to it. It also includes: prayers, stories from the Talmud, a paraphrase of the Haftarot, and the five megillot. Boards and first two pages are detached. In Yiddish, vocalized (with Nikud).
