About this Item
A scholarly treatment of the subject, with many graphs, tables and folding charts. The author (1830-1906) was British naval architect, politician and chief constructor of the Royal Navy. Handsome hardcover, bound in full leather with the gilt emblem of the Society of Engineers and the name W. G. Wales on the front cover. Five raised bands and gilt titles on the spine. 6.5x9 inches, 370 pages. A label attached to inside cover shows that the book was given in 1896 to Wales in appreciation of his paper on discharging and storing grain, which was read before the Society and the label is singed by the president and secretary of the Society. Very good condition, light scrapes to leather, firmly bound. Seller Inventory # 001761
