An early reprint of the 33rd book in the Tom Swift series, lists to Tom Swift and His Television Detector (#36 in the series) on the front flap of the jacket and to Tom Swift and His Giant Magnet (#35) on the advertisements page. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good ++. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Tan quad cover in red and black. December 1931 gift inscription penned in with original 50 cent price in pencil on front flyleaf. Edges of text block lightly dust dulled. A very light, unobtrusive and small smudge on front cover. 6 pages of ads in back with this title being number 33 on list and being the last title in ads and on copyright page. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Grosset and Dunlap Publishers, New York, 1930, 214 pages plus 6 pages of ads. Comes with the more recent (after 1932) but much rarer orange boards with black lettering on cover and spine. Top edge of pages stained orange. Pictorial orange and white endpapers with various scenes from the Tom Swift 1910-1941 series. Victor Appleton was a house pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, most famous for being associated with the Tom Swift series of books. As with all editions, this comes with a glossy paper frontispiece illustrating a scene from a cited page in the book. Condition: Very Good+. Full color Very Good dj. Bump to top of spine and one corner. Slight foxing to page ends. DJ has slight damage at top and bottom of each fold at spine and flaps. Some edge wear. Spine so sunned that only the picture in the oval is visible. Front illustration bright. Lists to Big Dirigible on copyright page, but to Giant Magnet 1932) in back ad and Television Detector (1933) on dj flap. I will be adding books to my Juvenile listings weekly.
