Joseph H. Ayers, Ruth Ayers, and family. Chase, Denver; Ruth Ayers as a young woman, circa 1895, cabinet card, by Scott of Chicago. Joseph Henry Ayers (1870-1945) was born in Pittsburgh, Pa but moved to Colorado as a small boy. He attended both the University of Denver and Colorado College. He had a long career in the accounting business. He was also a member of the Colorado Poetry Society and a winner the Colorado State Poetry Contest. His wife, Ruth M. Vallette (1870-1933) was born in Illinois. She attended rockford Seminary and Colorado College. The couple were married in 1895. Also included is a genealogy for their children's children written on a piece of paper (8 x 5 inch).
