About this Item
3 7/8" x 6", 8 pp. including wraps. Quite scarce McLoughlin children's title from about 1871 [no date but listed in the March 1872 edition of 'The Weekly Trade Circular']. Part of the 'Little Dot Series'. Seven half-page monotone (black) illustrations; rear cover is oddly the same as the interior pages and part of the story, as if the rear cover were missing (which it is not: front and rear panels are the same leaf). Wonderful color printing to front cover, possibly the oil-on-zinc process McLoughlin had begun circa 1869. At first look, the little volume appears to be in Fine condition (see photo enlarged) but there is a split at the bottom 1" of the spine and the rear panel has mild age-toning/foxing. Sold with a clear acetate cover with white spine which makes handling and viewing far safer. Will be shipped securely between cardboard. Seller Inventory # 04418
