Takeo Sano. a renowned professor at Kyoto City University of Arts and an award-winning batik artist. passed away at 4:26 am on October 2 at Ishino Hospital in Sakyo District. Kyoto City. due to peritonitis. 81 years old. Born on October 22. 1913 in Moriyama-cho. Shiga Prefecture (currently Moriyama City). Mother Ai's birthplace was an embroidery company in Nishijin. He became passionate about painting around 1923 when he was a student at Nagahama Jinjo High School. and the year after graduating from the same school in 1922. he lived with his brother in Kyoto. who was working for Kyo-Yuzen. In 1927. he entered the Kyoto Municipal Craft School's Design Department. Studied under Eshu Yamada and Kenkichi Yamaga (Seika). From around the same 5th year. he applied for a prize drawing and won a prize. In the same year. he graduated from Kyoto Municipal College of Arts and Crafts. In the same year. he was selected for the first time in the 20th Ministry of Commerce and Industry Crafts and Art Exhibition Design Department with his creative design Saree no Zaku. In the same year. he was selected for the 14th Teiten Exhibition for the first time with Osaka Tenmansai Festival Braze-dyed Wall Hanging. Although he was not selected for the Teiten the following year. he participated in the production of a large drop curtain for Seika Yamaga's Toho Theater in the same year. and since then he has been involved in the production of drop curtains in Tokyo. Osaka. Shingo. and other places. In the same year. he stayed in Okinawa for about 10 years and 1 month to study Bingata and Okinawan crafts. In the same year. he submitted his work Ryukyu no Onna at the Kyoto City Art Exhibition. In the same year. he also participated in the formation of a group of new dyers and weavers who graduated from Kyoto City Arts and Crafts School. Mokuosha. Received the Kogei Encouragement Award at the 1st Sojunsha Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 1999. In 2012. he exhibited ``Praying Rain Painting Frame'' at the 2nd Kyoto City Exhibition and won the Mayor's Award. In 2013. he exhibited the folding screen Numa at the 2nd Kogei-in Exhibition and won the Kogei-in Award. In 2015. he exhibited at the 2600 AD Celebration Exhibition and joined the Kyoto Dyeing. Weaving and Embroidery Arts Association. which was formed by Seika Yamaga. Gekka Minagawa. and Tojiro Tanagaki. Received the Mayor's Award in 2017 at the 7th Kyoto City Exhibition for his work Some Folding Screens Playing with the Earth. The following year. the Japan Arts and Crafts Tosei Association began wartime tosei. but he received special treatment from the Ministry of Education and continued his independent research. In 2019. he submitted his __yobu Hina. two titles_ at the Kyoto City Exhibition to celebrate and won the prize. After the war. he exhibited Cotton weaving at the 1st Kyoto Exhibition in 1920 and won the mayor's prize second prize. In the autumn of 2009. he exhibited his folding screen Children's Picture at the 2nd Nitten Exhibition and was selected as a special prize. In 2011. he held his first solo exhibition at Asahi Kaikan in Sanjo. Kawaramachi. Kyoto. In the same year. instead of exhibiting at the Kyoto and Nitten exhibitions. he exhibited ``? Dyed cloth'' at the Shinsaku Kogei Exhibition. winning the Shinsaku Kogei Association Award and being recommended as a member of the association.
