About this Item
The Story of Dr. Wassell by James Hilton; The MacMillan Company of Canada Limited, Toronto, 1943. James Hilton (1900 1954) was an English novelist best remembered for several best-sellers, including Lost Horizon and Goodbye, Mr. Chips. By 1938 he had moved to California, and his work became more connected with the Hollywood film industry. This would explain how he cam to write this particular book, one of the few non-novels that he wrote. This simple true story of a Navy doctor from Arkansas, who got his wounded men out of Java through the turmoil of the Japanese invasion. From the dust jacket The author s royalties will be given to The Navy League of Canada, such monies to be used for the Merchant Seaman and the men of the Royal Canadian Navy. This is a very scarce Hilton title. This book, 153 pages, is in very good condition in a good dust jacket, that is now in a protective mylar wrap. There is a previous owner s signature of the first free endpaper. Seller Inventory # 2087a
