Large albumen photographic portraits of the state officers and legislators of New York, the 98th NY State Legislature, meeting from January to May of 1875. Includes Governor Samuel J. Tilden at the center. Tilden led the reform movement in the Democratic party, and worked to end Boss Tweed corruption and to break up the Canal Ring, made up of New York politicians from both parties who had profited by artificially inflating the costs of the state canal system. Includes a portrait of William H. Fish of Mecklenburg, Schuyler County, and Member of New York state assembly (27th District). The large albumen photograph 17 x 20", laid down on heavier stock, 21 x 26". Some short closed tears in margin of heavier stock, lower corners of heavier stock chipped. Seller Inventory # 20786
