52 p. 31 cm. Bound in blue paper wraps with new endpapers. Repairs to title page, along with ink inscription, remains of seal. Foxing and vertical crease throughout. Large ink stain marking both sides of last Index leaf. Title continues: "and Revised By-Laws of the District of Talbot, Enacted by the Said Council, Constituted and Assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act of the Parliament of the Province of Canada, passed in the Session held in the Fourth and Fifth Years of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, 'An Act to provide for the better internal government of that part of this Province, which formerly constituted the Province of Upper Canada, by the establishment of Local or Municipal Authorities therein.' Volume I. From February 1842, to February, 1847." The Talbot District was established by Upper Canada Statutes 1837, Chapter 33 and became effective under a Proclamation dated December 30, 1837, and consisted of the County of Norfolk. The Long Point Advocate was a weekly newspaper published out of Simcoe. Between 1845 and 1853 it was edited by Michael Hamilton Foley, later a lawyer and politician. Seller Inventory # 140103
