hardback, two volumes complete, an 1884 reprint in two volumes of a work that first appeared the year previously in one, binding by Waterston & Sons of Edinburgh in quarter iron-railing green morocco and lettered gilt to spines, top edges gilt. Rubbed to edges of paper covered boards and to head and foot of spines, scuffed to boards and with a light damp stain at the foot of the lower board of volume II. Some spotting to endpapers, hinges neatly strengthened, text clean and unmarked, tipped in vignettes on Japan and illustrated in b&w throughout the text. Seller Inventory # 261487
