About this Item
Soft cover booklet, stapled binding. 8vo (6.25 x 9.25 in.). Cover is a graphical rendition of Al Jolson from "The Jazz Singer" on screen with silhouetted audience. Titling in black, white. Light rub marks, one small stain. Rear cover is print-out of a small section from the inside text. There are three light stains. Lower third of the cover wrap is separated at the spine. Most pages are clean though small stains appear on the first 10 pages. This booklet is a how-to guide for songwriters and composers who are considering work in the swiftly emerging "talkies" of the late 1920s. It discusses the mechanic, aesthetic, and legal issues involved. Informative and well-written by Walter Newcomer, himself a composer. An interesting, well-preserved piece of American 20th century culture. Seller Inventory # 001352
