1901 signed and inscribed first edition, Wilson and Whitworth Limited (Brentwood, England), 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches tall green embossed cloth hardcover, no dust jacket (as issued), gilt design to front cover and gilt lettering to spine, black endpapers, illustrated with black-and-white frontispiece portrait and six other photographs, [7], 349 pp. plus four folding family genealogical charts. Very slight soiling and mild to moderate rubbing and edgewear to covers. Author's name on spine label. Slight bumping to tips. Western Reserve Historical Society bookplate to front pastedown. 1903 author's presentation inscription to blank front free-endpaper, with a two-page note from the author tipped in. Historical Society embossed stamp to title page and upper margin of all four folding family trees. Pencil correction to Contents page and one line in the Appendix. Chipping and tearing to edges of folding family trees, whose fore edges extend slightly beyond those of other pages in the book. Otherwise, apart from very slight marginal age toning, a very good copy - clean and unmarked - of this scarce 'family memoir' and genealogy. OCLC (Nos. 771605918, 866690646) locates only seven copies at institutions worldwide.
