Oblong hardback, 12 x 10 inches. Full maroon morocco leather binding, gilt lettering to spine, gilt lettering and designs to front. All page edges gilt. Black endpapers and decorative dentelles to inner board edges. In very good condition. Corners and ends of spine a little bumped and chipped, glue repairs to cracked front spine hinge. Neat previous owners stamp to corner of title page ?Alex R. McGown.? Some occasional minor handling/thumb marks to pages, else pages and plates all very clean and tight throughout. Else a very good clean and tight copy. xxviii + Illustrated with 118 B&W photographs full-page single sides plates (numbered 1-117, frontis is not numbered.)
