In good condition. Some faint marginal water staining (a little darker in index), the occasional spot, upper hinge cracking. Early vellum, blind-ruled boards, spine in six compartments with raised bands, title inked to spine and to top edge, a little darkened and soiled, a few tiny holes to vellum, corners and one side worn but a good copy. Later ink note to upper pastedown, early ink inscription Bonnet to title page, and one or two marginal words (in same old hand) to text. Please see photos. The fourth and final edition of Sallust to issue from the press of Simon de Colines (1480-1546) one of the greatest names of French publishing at the time of the Renaissance Colines married the widow of Henri Estienne and was thus step-father to Robert, Charles and Francois Estienne; for a time he ran the Estienne press.
