"Walter" privately published his 11-volume memoir in a limited pressing of six copies in the late 1880s after which the type was reportedly destroyed. The expansive diary details the Victorian's 40-years of sexual experiences in remarkable, and blushingly frank, detail. in the mid 1960s, one of the few surviving copies made it's way into the hands of the Publisher's at Grove Press. In 1966, they produced all 11 diaries in two omnibus hardbound volumes enclosed in a publisher's slipcase. Grove sold the set for $30 in 1966 (nearly $300 in today's money) These very good volumes have some toning and dust staining to edges. The black cloth is wrinkled a bit along the spine which appears from other copies to be a consistent issue. Both volumes are in their original jackets that has wear around its edges, some turning, and light soiling. Both are housed in the original publisher's slipcase that has been moderately worn all around with some splits to the paper around the edges. (Loc: Shelf). Seller Inventory # 1670
