Marble covered scrapbook measuring 9.5" x 12". Good only album with tears and wear on the edges with very good or better contents with some tears. A scrapbook compiled by Clarence G. Stowe while working with the Alden Speare's Sons Company beginning in 1905. Alden Speare's Company sold oil, gasoline, and polishes for automobiles and other metal objects. Stowe gathered letters from various company's he was working with as well as advertisements for the company. In his letters to clients Stowe writes, "Speare's Auto Oil is in a class by itself.It will give you Perfect Lubrication, which will furnish you every ounce of power your car possesses." He continues, "There's half a century of Oil knowledge and experience behind our Oils, and this means a scientific product that makes good under the severe and changing conditions of automobile lubrication." The Alden Speare's Company was founded in 1851 by Alden R. Speare and Russell W. Burke in Boston, Massachusetts. The company worked with oils, starches and mill supplies eventually catering to the auto industry. An interesting collection documenting a Boston oil company's dealings at the beginning of the 20th century. Seller Inventory # 590599
