Biography of the Native American Presbyterian minister who spent his life evangelizing among other Native American tribes and mediating between colonists and Native Americans. From 176-68, he preached across England fundraising for what would become the establishment of Dartmouth College. His A Short Narrative of My Life (1768) was the first Native American autobiography written in English, although it was not published until 1982. Burgundy cloth, beveled edges, gilt spine, 230 p. frontis., dust jacket. Owners' names to ffep, the top of the last page, and to the rear pastedown, else a fine copy. The dust jacket has some small closed tears along the top edge of the rear panel and one small gouge near the bottom. Seller Inventory # 10822
