A resale company has has sent salesman sample pieces of book binding supplies to an art teach as noted in the correspondence below. The first item is a singular sample of "Russet Crepe" which has been adhered to a stiff board. Measures 4 3/4" x 3". The second item is a "Book Cloth" which has thirteen (13) different color small samples of an unknown fabric. Measures 2" x 2" (fabric square), 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" (book). The last item is a single fold booklet, with a total of twenty-two (22) different types of samples. There are six (6) different colored gummed cloth samples, with one (1) super gummed cloth meant for reinforcing items. There are six (6) linen and cotton tape samples in a variety of colors. There is one (1) brass snap faster button, that has been "buttoned" to the page, with note that it does come in additional colors, such as gray, green, brown, black and maroon. And lastly, there are eight (8) celluloid eyelets punched into the page as samples, in a variety of colors. Measures 7 1/4" x 7 1/4" (unfolded). The letter is addressed to Miss Mabel Spofford, (1883-1981), a local young public art school teacher who appears to have written Baumgarten & Co. with a request for additional supplies. In the company's reply they grant her request for "color pads in red, green, black, purple, and blue at 5 cents each . in lots of 1 dozen we will allow a discount of 20%". At the end, they add that in addition to the Animal Stencils they also make a set of "Brownie Stencils consisting of 10 different figures". Measures 8 1/4" x 7 1/4" The company's name is Banghart & Fischer, and it sold "construction materials for schools, papers, leathers, tools, etc." Mabelle "Mabel" Spofford was born on May 29, 1883 to Frank Melvin Spofford (1854-1936) and Clara Todd (1855-1936) in Danvers, MA. She had one brother: Ralph Prescott Spofford (1881-1949). She graduated from Mass Normal Art School in 1902 and began an art teaching career in 1906, first in Vermont, then other local MA towns, before settling in Gloucester, MA in 1922 where she stayed until she retired in 1950. At some point she also achieved her life long dream of traveling throughout Europe so she could see the art and architecture she studied in person. She then moved back to her home town of Danvers, and later died there on November 21, 1981. …

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Eclectibles, ABAA, Tolland, Connecticut, U.S.A., without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
