Topsy was the name given to Gwa-Gwa (Little Lonely) an abandoned deaf and dumb girl, the daughter of a Tibetan chief and Mongolian mother. At about the age of seven she was adopted by three Missionaries who served in the Gobi desert. They included Alice Mildred Cable (c.1879-1952) and the two French sisters, collectively known as 'The Trio.' Francesca Law French (1871-1960) was the joint author of this and other studies of missionary work in Central Asia. The Trio brought Topsy to England in 1935, under the name of Eileen Guy, and she lived until 1998. BIOGRAPHY CHINA BIOGRAPHY- CHRISTIAN ASIA 20TH CENTURY ILLUSTRATED BIOGRAPHY.
