Medium 40to. Second reprint, same year as the first edition. Original beige cloth with foxing to spine and some klight marks to sides. pp lv, [1], 260, [4] adverts. With 16 colour plates and 75 in black-&-white, plus a folding map of Leicestershire and the surrounding countryside. Titlepage printed in red and black. With the rubbed and holed dust-jacket. George Osbaldeston (1786-1866) was a passionate fox hunter and cricketer. He had his own pack of hounds from the age of 16, and was master of nine hunts, notably the Atherstone (1815 17), the Quorn (1817 21, 1823 27), and the Pytchley (1827 34). In cricket, he was a fine all-rounder who bowled right-handed, fast underarm. An outstanding Single Wicket player, he was chiefly associated with MCC but he also represented Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. NB: AS THIS IS A HEAVY BOOK AN EXTRA SHIPPING CHARGE MAY APPLY.
