FIRST EDITION. 4to. 8.5 x 11 inches. 77 pp. + [1]. Title page and verso in red and black. In original coloured pictorial front board, neatly rebacked with recent cloth spine. Some wear to extremities but otherwise a very good copy. 1913 gift inscription on second free endpaper. Illustrated by colour frontispiece and numerous drawings in black and white, many full page. The frontispiece and first poem illustrate a little black girl with her Golliwog but most of the illustrations depict anthropomorphised animals with several hunting and sporting scenes. Harry Bingham Nielson (1861-1941) was a children's book illustrator who also worked on magazines and comics.
