253 pgs., 8vo. An ex-library copy, with a jacket that was 'trimmed short' to fit the library's wrappers, so is now 1/8" short head and tail. One of the more criminal library mutilations I have seen, alas, as the book is of course valuable. A piece of their wrapper is preserved to show the purpose of their crime. This is a fairly clean copy of the "Pistol" jacket, some brown traces at contact edges, and a darkening where the spine label has been carefully removed. the book leans slightly, has a dark line caused by the original wrapper markings 1/4" all round, and the front jacket corners are clipped. Cloth shows wear-thru in part of bottom edges, and on bottom of spine. STATED FIRST PRINTING. Withdrawn from "Timms Libraries in Syracuse, which did not use interior ownership stamps, or lending pockets. The front fly is marked 'withdrawn' and has the library info in a small-ish rubber stamping. The book was not heavily read, just has a couple small spots here and there, maybe tiny coffee droplets. Still nice. with all faults and foolishnesses done to it ! Fair overall condition, 'not bad for a library book' (and for most copies extant) as some sellers describe pretty rough books.
