Pearl Zane Grey (1872 1939) was an American author and dentist best known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts; he idealized the American frontier. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book. In addition to the commercial success of his printed works, his books have had second lives and continuing influence when adapted as films and television productions. His novels and short stories have been adapted into 112 films, two television episodes, and a television series, Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater. Zane Grey was a major force in shaping the myths of the Old West. He was the author of more than 90 books, some published posthumously and/or based on serials originally published in magazines. His total book sales exceed 40 million. The majority of his books were published by Harper & Brothers in the United States and by Musson in Canada. This would appear to be the first Canadian edition. This book, 295 pages is in very good condition. The covers are a bright and the spine is very lightly bumped at top and at the bottom. The book is solid and square. The dust jacket is in fair condition only. The spine front is chipped all around and the spine is poor. The dust jacket is now in a protective mylar wrap. Overall, an acceptable copy of this title.
