About this Item
17 p.; 23 cm. Disbound. Representative Stephen L. Mayham of the sub-committee on private land claims made the report on the claim of Thomas H. Dowling to the Island of Yerba Buena in San Francisco Bay. Thomas H. Dowling had lived on the island of Yerba Buena, also known as Goat Island, since 1849. In 1866, the U.S. Army exerted a claim to all the islands in San Francisco Bay and forced Dowling and his family to leave. Dowling fought to regain his property without success, although this committee report supports a claim for indemnity for his investments in the property. Scarce. In Good Condition: disbound; first leaf and last leaf are detached but present; first page is browned; otherwise, clean and solid. Seller Inventory # 009294
