About this Item

A rare original colour poster from the Chinese Cultural Revolution era. Portrait format : 77cm x 53.5cm. Designed by the Amateur Art Team of workers, farmers and soldiers from Rudong County, Jiangsu Province. Designed in Feb. 1972 and printed in May 1972. Published no. 8100.2.028 (2). Priced at 0.14 yuan. It depicts youngsters (2 wearing "Little Red Soldiers" badges and an adult by a rice-shelling machine. Strewn on the floor are burnt books. Text reads: "Open your heart and eyes and never be cheated." Text on the board reads: "We need to get a grip and greatly criticise." Condition: very good with fold marks, creases at the edges and pin holes at each corner where it was once affixed to a wall, probably in a school. Provenance: from a private collector in Nanjing.
