Black cloth tape has been placed along the spine. White reference number painted on the lower spine. Library book plate and withdrawal stamp on the front endpaper and fly leaf. Hardcover. Condition: Fair. First Edition. This set is offered as is, despite the condition. 3 vols, complete. Octavo, 8 1/4" tall, with with gilt title and decoration on spines, dark green cloth. Previous owner's signature on the title page of each volume. A good hardcover first edition set overall; vol. I: 388 pages; vol. II: 403 pages; vol. III: 416 pages. All three volumes show wear at the edges, fore-corner tips through to boards; all hinges are broken and covers loosening or loose. with external damp staining to the forward portion of cover cloth of vols. 1 and 2. Internal bindings on all volumes are solid and secure, text paper is generally clean and lightly yellowed (the first volume has some marginal finger soiling to the first few pages).
