Boards are lightly sunned where something has been on top of book. Frontispiece portrait of LeConte has offset on to tissue guard, otherwise NF. No dust jacket as issued. ; B&W Photos; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 152 pages; Joseph LeConte, for whom Mount LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains is named, was a native of Georgia and practiced medicine before taking a post as a professor of natural science at the new University of California in 1869. In 19870, with a group of students, made a camping trip into the High Sierras and Yosemite. This is his journal of that trip. It was originally printed in 1875 for member of that party, then published in 1900 by the Sierra Club. This is a 1930 limited edition by the Sierra Club, a facsimile of the original, with 4 of the original photos reproduced, and a frontispiece portrait of LeConte. There is a forward to this edition by Francis Farquar, and a bibliography for further study of the author. Seller Inventory # 9156
