The magazine showcased the authenticity, irreverence, and individual creativity of figures like Betty Davis, Ike and Tina Turner, Warhol stars Holly Woodlawn and Jane Forth, and the Cockettes while also drawing inspiration from the counterculture and other non-traditional sources of sartorial originality: cowboys, priests, meter maids, clowns, undertakers, and waitresses.
