A little wear to extremities including corners and some foxing of flyleaves and title page; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 8 black and white plates, including frontispiece, which is protected by tissue guard. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Sequel to the Prisoner of Zenda (1894), the original Ruritanian novel by Anthony Hope (1863-1933), prolific novelist and playwright. The publisher's advertisements at the end indicate that this is a copy of the first edition of 1898. Plates by US illustrator, Charles Dana Gibson (1867-1944). FICTION NOVELS LIT.
