Oblong, 3" x 5". Hand-painted cover illustrated with oval portraits of Lincoln and McClellan surrounded by flower wreaths, a soldier in a Union frock coat stands to the left, and a soldier in Zouave garb stands to the right. A banner beneath the portraits reads, "Review of the Army." Pasted onto an old newspaper backing. Outermost edges lightly worn, minor foxing and toning. Very Good. The imprint date of this cover is estimated from the Spink Shreves Galleries Sale - 121, Floyd E. Risvold Collection - American Expansion & Journey West - January, 2010, which was datestamped, "Jan. 29, 1862." OCLC 438527877 notes only a Readex version of this cover. Seller Inventory # 31569
