204pp plus sections of black and white plate illustrations. In blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine (slightly bruised at spine ends, a few mild marks). Spotting on text block edges, pages just a little creamed with age, else internally neat and clean. Slightly loose. In it original dust jacket (chipped at edges, with minor loss at spine tips, shelf worn). Internally some faint occasional spotting and mild signs of fingering. A moving tribute to the Indian contribution to the allied effort in the Second World War; the first part dedicated India in war time, with tributes to the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, Tales of Indian Valour in the War and India's War Effort; and part two containing contributions by various authors such as T S Eliot's poem - commissioned for this volume and published here for the first time - To The Indians who Died in Africa and Sir Leonard's Woolley's essay on 'England and India - The Earliest Link'.
