Square quarto, 10.5" x 11", unpaginated. Book of portraits of unidentified nobles, ladies and gentlemen, and possibly one or two young children. Boards covered with woven textile of unknown fiber(s) (possibly linen and/or silk) with some fraying to edges, front cover (opening right to left) has an affixed paper label which is blank; 24 leaves of individual painted facial portraits in ink, gouache and watercolor, 100 portraits in all. Portraits closely trimmed and mounted on light tan paper, then pasted to leaves. Extensive foxing to leaves throughout, slight foxing affecting the edges of a few portraits, scattered small water blotches or imperfections to portraits but otherwise paintings are clean and clearly detailed with delicate brushstrokes and expressive features.
