About this Item
Pen-and-ink drawing of the Pulitzer (also known as the New York World) Building on Park Row in lower Manhattan. Mounted on a contemporary stiff board, with the bottom corners cracked. The cracks do not extend to the drawing. The title has been penciled in at the bottom. The view is taken from the west, over City Hall. The New York World Building was torn down in 1955 to make room for expanded access ramps to the Brooklyn Bridge. It does not appear that any of the other buildings in this drawing are still standing. Walter Hale was an actor and artist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries who lived primarily in New Orleans and Paris. He died in France during World War I. Seller Inventory # p00065
