Hardcover; in dustjacket. Popular Edition in gilt at the tail of the spine, and on the spine tail of the DJ. Copyright date is (1912) and the copyright page reads "Published January"; but this page is likely just reprinted from the 1st edition, and the book printed at a later (but still early) date. Bound in dark-green cloth with an illustrated paper image on the front board. The binding is very clean & bright, with just a bit of bumping at the spine extremities, and a bit of VERY light rubbing at the corner tips. The page edges are age-darkened, with a bit of light aged-soil. Else the pages are clean. Some chipping at the DJ corners and spine extremities; and a bit at the bottom rear edge. Some mostly closed tears at the edges; some of which have related creases. One tear at the top front has resulted in a bit of surface chipping; as seen in the attached photos. Couple short tears along the DJ rear flap fold. The DJ white spine and rear panel are somewhat age-darkened (and the spine lettering likely a bit sunned), and with light rubbed soil. A very nice, clean binding; in an imperfect, but better than typical (and quite scarce) dustjacket - still attractive in its Brodart. ; B&W Illustrations; 28A; 7-1/4" x 5"; 300 pages.
