ix, 432 pp. Blue cloth boards (with gilt titles to spine) a little worn and rubbed at edges and joints. A few very small tears to corners and ends of backstrip. A few light stains to upper board. Edges of text block somewhat scuffed and yellowed; upper edge tinted. Eps a little soiled, with a couple of pencilled notations, and split at hinges, although binding is still solid throughout. Internally unmarked. A collection of Hearn's lectures to Japanese students on the works of Rossetti, Swinburne, Browning, William Morris, George Meredith, Robert Buchanan and Robert Bridges. Apparently Hearn presented the lectures without notes, and this book contains transcriptions of the lectures made by attending students.
