About this Item
45x64.5cm. Wonderful and very scarce example of a bull-fighting poster from the early 19th century. The names of the matadors and the bulls (with ages) - "Artillero, Capuchino, Brujo, etc. - are given, as well as prices of seats. The bulls are all from the famous "ganaderia de Don Manuel Suarez, vecino de Coria del Rio, provincia de Sevilla.," which was a center for the raising of bulls for fighting. The poster also announces that, "se previene" (it is not permitted) the throwing of oranges and orange peels, stones and sticks into the arena, not to mention "banderillas de fuego, perros de presa." etc. The fact that the bulls came from the Seville region indicates a Spanish provenance, but no more specific place is identified. Images available on request. Condition is fine. Seller Inventory # 6416
