Blue-grey endpapers and pastedowns. Bound by Zaehnsdorf, the volumes are bound without the half-titles. Volume one illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Burns. Each title page with the Aldine device, this is Pickering's Aldine edition of Burns. Kelly 47. Keynes 48. The Aldine series included several celebrated English, Scottish, and European writers. The project was Pickering's homage to Aldus Manutius. The Poetical Works of Robert Burns was first published by Pickering in 1830, and was the first publication in Pickering's Aldine series. This is the second Aldine edition of Burns' poems. A beautifully bound set of the Scottish poet's writings.
