Collected poetic works by John Dryden, English poet, literary critic, translator, and playwright who in 1668 was appointed England's first Poet Laureate. He so dominated the literary life of Restoration England that the period became known as the Age of Dryden. Sir Walter Scott called him "Glorious John."
